Welcome to the beautiful earth magick that is ecstatic dance.

Earth Dance is brought to you with love. Bringing the medicine back to the people through creating opportunities for us to come together in the spirit of community - plugging into Mama Earth and embracing what it is to be human - through the medicine that is dance.

We have been dancing on the earth since the beginning of Us. Across every culture, religion, land and race, through all time. It is written into our very DNA. It is who we are.
Although we no longer live close to the land, in tribes and villages, with song and dance woven throughout our everyday life, we absolutely can access these parts of ourselves nevertheless. We can live our modern day, fast-paced, technological, city/urban lifestyles AND sing and dance on the earth, with friends and community, in the spirit of ceremony and celebration. The two are not mutually exclusive. In fact, walking in both worlds is easy and beautifully powerful.
Dancing barefoot on the earth is simultaneously an ancient medicine and a path to grounding a greater dimensional reality in this new age.

Dancing as one, with earth, sky and each other
awakens a Remembrance of Who We Are.

Earth, community, beauty, dance - these are powerful healers and teachers. They bring us back to the truth of our being and are an all-round great way to let our hair out and have fun. We have a suggested contribution of $15 cash as an exchange, however if you are struggling financially please just give what you can afford, no questions asked. It is more important that you get to connect with community, nature, dance and have fun!
We gather to dance on weekends as much as possible but also like to honour, celebrate and harness the energy of the full moon, solstices and key astrological events - which don’t always align with the 5-day work week. As there isn’t a standard, regular schedule and our dances can also be a little spontaneous (on average there’s one every 4-6 weeks), it’s best to flick through an email requesting to be on the email list. That way you’ll always be notified when and where a dance is on.
Full moon dances are generally at the beach in a secluded nook, others are hidden away in beautiful private spaces. Last summer we had many impromptu sunrise dances at the beach and discovered the pure bliss that is dancing in the ocean at 5am :) Going with the flow of the waves and allowing Mama Ocean to carry you to the music is a truly special experience to be explored and has the potential to open us to deep states of oneness with her.

Nutty as it may sound...rain, hail or shine, we dance. The elements are very much part of the medicine and add another layer of nourishment for the soul. There is nothing more wild, energising, cleansing and liberating than dancing up a storm, in a storm! The bonus in not having a hall is that the earth is our dancefloor always, the sky is our ceiling, the four directions are our walls and the trees, stars, moonlight, animal kingdom, ocean, elements and spirits connected to the land, are our companions. It is She who holds us.
Our gatherings are a super safe space - empowering, nurturing, accepting of all and completely free of judgement. If you’ve never done something like this before that’s perfect because with ecstatic dance we don’t need to “know how to dance” – this is not about looking good or having the moves! It is about movement, in whatever way our body and limbs want to move in the moment, in this space we can look as weird as we want, there's no limit. We generally have a debrief together before and afterwards, carving out space for real friendship and connection and with a shared silent prayer of gratitude to the land who holds us.
Best of all, these dances awaken the energy of celebration, joy, connection and community, as we have the power of group consciousness to support us all. We can draw on the group energy to take ourselves to greater levels of surrender, flow and freedom and whether we realise it or not, we feed the group energy too. We inspire and activate each other.

Together we are whole.
Dance our medicine...

The way our society is constructed, our lifestyles are largely lived with our awareness centred in and around our head-space. Each time we carve out time and space to expand out of our head and freely inhabit our whole body through the process of free-form dance, we shift out old stagnant energy and become clear channels for our own essence.

Through 'the dance' we can challenge ourselves beyond our comfort zone and through any anxiety or sense of self-consciousness, expanding into body parts (and parts of ourselves) that don’t get much movement/play/awareness/attention, and break old patterns. As we journey with the dance, we can challenge ourselves to access deeper and deeper levels of surrender, flow, disinhibition, wildness, freedom, joy, self-knowledge, Self.
Each inner milestone we make contact with through the dance ripples out through every facet of our lives, such that bit by bit we step into embodying new ways of being in everyday life - more centred, clear, empowered, free, joyful, loving and high on life.
Wild and free dancing, barefoot on the earth, is also quite possibly the most fun and powerful practice we have for rebooting our whole energy body. All that movement at the joints and all that stretching, shaking, bouncing, spinning and flowing to the music, are fantastic processes to decongest the energy centres and meridians, shift heavy energy, activate our centres and energise our whole being. It is also deeply, beautifully, grounding.
We can even use dance intentionally, to access altered states of consciousness. Our ancestors have used dance to enter trance states since the beginning of time and in the right conditions, we too may drop into trance dance, receive visions and higher guidance, dance our heartfelt desires into existence and experience expanded modes of perception.

Dance hard, dance it all out...dance your prayers in!

As a meditation and deep spiritual practice, ecstatic dance is one of our greatest teachers in the art of embodiment. To know what it is to joyfully (and wholly) inhabit our beautiful human bodies is easily my deepest wish for all.
Lastly, singing is as inherent to who we are as is dancing! For millennia, humans have been sung to from the moment we were born. We grew up surrounded by song and literally sang our way through life – in work, rest and play. We have become so removed from this in our present culture that for most people, to sing in the presence of others or to sing along in a group is a truly terrifying task, myself included. It is through my own personal journey after discovering I was too scared to even call “cock-a-doodle doo” in a group setting, let alone sing along with others, that I made it a personal challenge to reclaim for myself what really is our birthright. My voice.

Two and a half years later I have come far and still have a long way to go. Therefore, the latest step has been to incorporate a brief four-line song or mantra after a dance, just for a few minutes, call and repeat style. If you’re feeling up for the challenge, there is the option to capitalise on the high of the dance and step right out of the comfort zone together.
We also get to build a repertoire of earthy songs we can take away, share with others and sing to the next generation so they are raised held by lullabies and free to delight in the medicine that is song.
Ecstatic earth dances are a demonstration of freedom...

Through the dance we channel the energy of freedom. Like a bottomless pit we take ourselves and each other deeper, freer and freer. Dancing on the beach, wild, free and joyful, affects those who witness us in ways we can never know.
At this stage in our collective evolution, the concept of freedom, and what it is to be truly sovereign beings, has begun to creep in and will increasingly be brought into the light of our awareness over this lifetime. To be free and sovereign beings, in both our inner and outer world, is a spiritual milestone of sorts, that has the power to propel humanity to new heights in terms of how we function globally. But ultimately, freedom is an inside job.

How free can YOU be?!

All are welcome to come and be part of creating this growing community of earth dancers – or create your own! - that together we may dance our way through these times and celebrate the ever-unfolding story of humanity, anchoring the freedom of all-that-we-are on behalf of the whole.
